Windies Storm Back To Gayle

What's the individual wisdom on the squad of fifteen chosen to tour by the West Indies?

  1. Where can I find the squad, Lango? I heard that either Edwards or Taylor was out which is disappointing if true.

  2. Sorry Lango, that was lazy of me – went to Cricinfo.

I maintain that Gayle is not a good influence on West Indies cricket. I think he is immature and cares little for test cricket.

We all know what Chanderpaul and Sarwan can do. If Bravo shows up with the right mentality he is dangerous. Ramdin did well against England and looks the goods and Nash (the white fella) is capable too. They’ll really miss Edwards – Taylor has a huge role now and I doubt he’s got the maturity yet to lead an attack but god I hope I’m wrong. It could be Aus 3 for 400 if WI doesn’t get their bowling in order. Benn is a good spinner and will get loads of bounce with his height and bouncier wickets than he’d be used to at home.

I don’t know much about Sammy and have never heard of Barath, Deonarine, Dowlin, Rampaul, Roach or Tonge.

With Pakistan and WI coming out it could be a very entertaining series or an absolute whitewash. They must be the two most inconsistent test playing countries. It always sounds arrogant to pen in 3 zip for both series but it’s hard to see either team getting 20 wickets in any test. Regards to WI batting there is certainly potential to post a good score but I can’t see the bowling backing it up. Like I’ve said above; for the sake of a good summer of cricket I hope I’m wrong.

  3. Sorry Leftie, I had intended includinga link to the squad in my post ... Old Timers disease! I've got a post in mind sometime this week evaluating the Windies Squad. You'll find it at http://thecricketragics.blogspot.com/ when I can escape from the real world to write it! Now I'm secretary of a cricket club again (after twenty years trying to prove I didn't need to be absorbed by the "local" game) and it seems to blotter up alot of the time I used to spill each week.
